Left my heart on the Central Coast… (at Margo Dodd Beach Park)
McWay Cove, Big Sur, Central Coast of California, USA (by Ezekiel.vg)
Missing this and home quite a bit lately (always around this time of year, and when under a considerable amount of stress)…I could just really go for some temperate climate and habitats. The scent of some redwoods, and just that essence of the Pacific.
Brilliant turquoise waters off the reserve. Later saw huge rays flapping about here! #nofilter (at Robberg Nature Reserve)
Ended the field day in the bird colony with a dip in the lagoon, under a full moon. (at Keurbooms Estuary)
(Ok, maybe we went for a swim because we were already wet and in the water from having to push the boat.)
From the eyes of a nesting African Oystercatcher. (at Robberg Nature Reserve)
View of today’s field site, Robberg. Searching for nests! (at Sanctuary Beach)
Everything is… “lekker by the sea.” (at Big Bay Surf Lifesaving Club)
Y’know, it’s kinda like living in a postcard. Hout Bay & The Sentinel, from Chapman’s Peak. (at Chapmans Peak Drive)
Lekker way to top off a conference week…with a bunch of scientists visiting Betty’s Bay! (at Betty’s Bay)
Those are all…moulting penguins! (at Stony Point — Penguin Colony)
Some just starting, some already finished, most partly through. They get so fat and fluffy and look so miserable during this whole process (and boy, are they mean!). Also located a couple banded birds (through my prior employer), and quite a few straggling chicks. On the other side of the colony, Cape Cormorants breed…watching the nestlings get fed was preciously entertaining, especially with the high winds!
